Dr. Josephine Pajarin Aloc

Environmental Scientist | Educator | Conservation Specialist | Researcher

Dr. Josephine Pajarin Aloc is a distinguished environmental scientist and educator with over 30 years of experience in forestry, plant science, and environmental management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, a Master’s degree in Plant Science (Horticulture/Agronomy), and has pursued advanced studies in Agricultural Development at the University of Ghent, Belgium, and Urban Environmental Management at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. She has also served as a full-time faculty member at Rizal Technological University, where she taught Environmental Science and Agroforestry Production Systems at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Throughout her career, she has held numerous leadership and academic positions, including Staff Head for the Vice President for Development and Administration at RTU and Project Evaluation Officer and Research Specialist 2 at the Department of Science and Technology’s SET-UP program. As a research scientist, she has made significant contributions to environmental science, with notable works in sustainable forestry, soil characterization, and the environmental impacts of mining. She is highly skilled in conservation management, having worked as a Conservation Specialist in collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and private organizations. Additionally, she serves as an Environmental Consultant, Wildlife Manager, Tree Care Specialist, and Agricultural Extension Agent, providing expert guidance on sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, and agricultural practices.

She is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the National Science Academy of the Philippines, the Science and Technology Advisory Council, and the Asia Pacific AgroEducation Network. She has also been actively involved in community initiatives, such as organizing CLIMATHON in Amsterdam and contributing to environmental projects in Camarines Norte. Her research has been published in respected journals and presented at conferences, with topics ranging from forest sustainability to vertical farming. She has received numerous scholarships and awards, including the Jaime Hernandez Scholarship, the Belgian Administration Development Cooperation Scholarship, and the Canadian Development Agency Scholarship.

With a versatile career spanning academia, research, and consultancy, Dr. Aloc’s work continues to make a lasting impact on environmental sustainability and education. Her unwavering commitment to advancing global environmental solutions, combined with experience in academia and conservation, positions her as a highly respected figure in the field of environmental science.
